Just discovered that Facebook now publishes your phone number to your friends. The problem is, we were never actually asked if it’s okay to share our phone numbers across the network. Sure, it’s just your “friends”, right? Many of us in any kind of business venture want our phone number distributed, but what about those who just truly want to peruse facebook and interact with friends? Where is the line drawn? Are those cute little apps where you gather animals or gems or shoot critters and what not sharing your cell phone number with businesses?
Facebook seems to be in the habit of pushing the limit now and asking for forgiveness later, if at all.
Actually seeing the phone numbers of “friends” who did not necessarily agree to have me call them seemed over the top and a little creepy to me. Does Aunt Mary really want her phone number published to everyone who she “FB friends” because they both like scrapbooking?
More importantly, who else is getting our phone numbers for free?
