Mission San Carlos Borromeo in Carmel, CA is the second mission established by Junipero Serra and the place of his death in a small 11×11 room. His sarcophagus, a relatively unusual sight in the US lies in a larger room on the other side of this wall where a young couple shares a brief kiss.
