Great Photography

Great photography is about a feeling. This technically very imperfect photograph was “rescued” in Lightroom because of its emotional appeal. The flawed exposure and focus only add to the emotion of seeing the face of a little angel in ethereal light.

Little Girls and Ring Bearers at the Wedding

This picture is not technically perfect by any stretch but it’s still one of my favorites from this particular wedding. I used it in the introduction to the video. For this wedding, I wasn’t able to get the usual 24-70, 2.8 lens. Instead, I got something like a 28–105 4.0 which gave me better zoom but no shallow depth of field, and none of the pictures seem to come out quite as clear as those taken with the 24–70.

Even so, the emotion and mood of this photograph seem to evoke wonderment and awe at all that was taking place.

Maui Child In Kaanapali – Last Day Of Maui Vacation

I took some family photos on the beach for a very fun group in 2007. They were on their last full day in Maui and wanted some pictures together as a family. Their youngest daughter was a natural for the camera. I caught this pose which was very brief. The photo is far from technically perfect, with a little motion blur due to the low light conditions, but it’s still one of my favorites.

Gregory, my grandson, came over last weekend and had his very first playtime in the sand. It didn’t take him long to figure out the fun of it all. After he thoroughly doused himself, his mom took him home for a quick refreshing bath. Tiredness finally took completely over and he headed home.
