North of Kapalua are the local spots for surfing. Most tourists to Maui don’t venture past Kapalua and those who do drive blithely by this spot, not knowing that it’s one of the most popular surfing spots for locals, second perhaps only to the beaches of Paia Bay, especially Ho’okipa which can challenge surfers with 40′ waves and excellent windsurfing virtually every day of the year.
