The Golden Ratio In Orange County Photography

August 26th, 2009 davekeys No comments

Orange County Photographers probably all take into account, the golden section or the golden proportion in photography. These two photographs both take into account the golden ratio in slightly different ways. In the first, the ratio is more implied but not perfectly since the photo has an extra slice of sky on the right but it is balanced by the descending palm trees.

In the second, the ratio is more accurately expressed as the corner of the building sharply divides the photo at the golden section. Neither shot is actually taken in Orange County but in Oceanside. We did travel there from OC so I hope that counts as Orange County photography. Besides, Oceanside is a good Orange County neighbor.

Separated From My Camera at the Wrong Time

August 25th, 2009 davekeys No comments

I spent over an hour in Oceanside waiting on someone to close a real estate deal for which I had helped prepare some marketing brochures and copy. The opportunity for networking was valuable but I had left my camera in the agent’s car without thinking. I walked down toward the pier with only my cellphone camera so these shots have only their compositional value.

A bold decor with orange and red.

OC Photography • Maui Picture

Taken in 2007. I chose this as my new Twitter background. Maui, Kapalua Resort. No I don’t stay there. That’s for Tiger and his golfing associates. The mercedes championship is held there every January. They allow outsiders to walk around and take pictures as long as they don’t act like paparazzi.

Wedding Photography On The Cheap In Orange County • Making The Best Choice

August 19th, 2009 davekeys No comments

If you’re looking for cheap wedding photography, you’ll want to consider the factors that cause the photography to be the price it is.

Here are a few:

  • The photographer is too inexperienced and can’t deliver a consistent quality product so they’re not ready for prime time.
  • The photographer is just turning pro and may be quite good but wants to build up a portfolio
  • The photographer is working solo. This is important for larger events. The price goes up when a second shooter of quality is hired.
  • The price is simply too low because the photographer underbids and will rush through your event to make up the difference.
  • The photographer lacks adequate equipment and is actually using consumer grade goods.

You can choose whether you need two photographers, but the other issues deserve caution and consideration before you hire a photographer. I’m a solo shooter but that keeps my prices down and makes me perfect for smaller weddings and smaller budgets too.

I’m not one of the cheap Orange County photographers that’s really underbidding and planning on a cheap product. I’m priced right for an experienced photographer who is still building a portfolio. Check my work here and on pennycafe.com and you may find you have discovered the perfect fit for your Orange County Wedding Photography.

Temecula Custom Homes in the Wine Country

If you like country living and peaceful quiet mornings (commonplace here in Temecula) then you will love the lifestyle that Temecula Custom Homes have to offer in the Temecula Wine Country.

The Wine Country with its Custom Homes really begins after Butterfield Stage Road. Here is where zoning rules require 5 acre minimum lot size.

Many of the Temecula custom homes are on parcels larger than five acres. Many have horse facilities. The Glen Oaks and Oakridge Ranches communities have riding trails maintained by HOAs. The communities have many homes not included in HOAs as well.

Temecula Wine Country homes usually begin at the $500,000 price range. This one has an asking price of $525,000.

Temecula custom homes like this Santa Barbara style home can also be found in the Temecula Wine Country. This beautiful “green built” home features 4000 sq. ft. of comfortable living space.

I’ve taken another peek at my new Google voice account. You know what’s really cool? Google voice transcribes voicemail on the fly and sends the relatively accurate transcription to you via both Email and SMS. Cool beans huh?

I wonder if it could post the voicemail to my blog or facebook? That could be interesting! Just call a number and talk – hang up and you’re posted and transcribed!

Certified White House Spam

According to examiner.com you could be receiving spammy messages from the White House in your inbox soon. It’s a chain mail. You know, one of those kind that your well meaning relative sends you a copy of every time they forget they’ve already sent that one. It says, “Across the country we are seeing vigorous debate about health insurance reform” I guess they gave up on health care reform and are now focused on health insurance reform. examiner.com article
