Snowy Peaks | Orange County | Photography

I took this yesterday morning. Used Photoshop for HDR composition from two bracketed shots. Nothing much more than light level adjustments to highlight the San Gabriel Mountains.

OC Photography: Kendall and Mommy

Trying out a new photoshop filter by AutoFX. So Far, I’m pretty pleased. Saves some time on its “dream effects” over manual glow and blur adjustments. Photoshop adjustments to the layers were used to bring back clarity to faces, plus I used a high pass filter on eyes and teeth.

Gregory Has the Key

December 28th, 2009 davekeys No comments

It seems like all 1 and 2 year olds love this old standby, the plastic house with different colored shapes and colors on characters that only fit in the right chimney. A colored key opens the door to get the characters back out, once you’ve dropped them down the chimney. The younger ones always need help getting the round peg or the triangle shaped character (base) into the right shaped chimney drop.

Rule of Thirds vs. Golden Ratio

This photo is much closer to the golden ratio than the loosely applied rule of thirds. I think it looks much better than the one posted earlier.

What’s inside the door isn’t nearly as spectacular as what’s outside the door. A reflection of Kaanapali Beach from the Embassy Suites Dining Room Doors.

I need to post about Maui vs. Kissimmee | Orange County Photography

December 16th, 2009 davekeys No comments

I just don’t have time right now. I want do do a comparison of photos I took in Maui and Kissimmee, FL. I know what my favorite location is; hands-down it’s Maui, but which photographs were better? Even the sunsets are hard to choose, or even tell apart if you don’t know which is which… None of these photos were taken in Orange County, Not OC in Florida or California. Kissimmee is in Osceola County.

The Fun Blog – Orange County – Dave Keys

December 15th, 2009 davekeys No comments

In case you run across this blog and wonder what on earth all the randomness is about, well, this is the “fun blog.” This is the blog where I can write, ramble and reflect- whatever may be the mood of the moment. What is the purpose of a blog like this? To prime the pump! It isn’t easy being an Orange County SEO expert and not boring or being bored at the same time. Oh, sometimes it’s easy but sometimes you get the old writer’s block and just need a place to get warmed up again.

This is that place.

You should have a blog just like it, whether you’re blogging for yourself or others, or both.

But you won’t. Well, maybe some of you just might. Just think of the possibilities. You may get an actual killer idea while easing into the pace of writing and thinking of the next thing to talk about. SEO requires constant contributions and if you don’t contribute, well Google notices that you’re too tired to be at the party and Google will call you up a cab and send you back down the SERPs maybe to position 9, maybe to page two or three.

So blog and get the creative juices flowing. Your SEO expertise needs it!

Decorating For Christmas Can Be Work Too

December 13th, 2009 davekeys No comments

mini Christmas Frame PicWork which I’m currently avoiding but it’s coming and I have to go out in the cold and hang lights. I like the lights and decorations and all, but I don’t like spending time on ladders in the cold. (yeah, it’s relatively warm here in Southern CA but it still feels cold while you’re standing on a ladder) Once I start, then I have to go put lights up in our Brazilian Pepper tree which is a messy ordeal and the tree doesn’t care that I’m trying to wrap-around arrange the lights and avoid getting my face and hair full of Brazilian Pepper tree dust which seems to just accumulate all year until I get up there and start stringing up lights, when it all comes loose and heads right for my airway.

I’ll put it off until the putting off becomes more painful than doing the task. It’s getting close…

Maybe I’ll post a picture on the Orange County Photography site.

Maui VS. Kissimmee Sunsets In Both

December 12th, 2009 davekeys No comments

Maui had live Whales right off the coast on our first stop away from the airport at the lookout point on the way to Lahaina. Kissimmee had live birds right over the lake. The weather was a little warmer in Maui but just slightly so. Diane really likes Maui a lot!
