To the casual observer, it may look like I’m just sitting here in Starbucks browsing the web but I’m actually posting videos to YouTube fast and furious and then optimizing them onsite, and offsite.

Now I went and forgot my call to action on one of the videos. That means change it and hope YouTube and Google both index the changes, or just post another one. I think I’ll do the latter.

Google is inexorably tied to YouTube but don’t expect the same level of consistency from the latter. YouTube may or may not index your video. You may or may not get a thumbnail image on an optimized YouTube landing page.

Always check up on your video’s indexing status before optimizing the page.

Saw a video about using keynote to make some pretty professional looking video. I never gave keynote much thought, but here’s a try at this link: Orange County Photographers

I’m also assessing how well youtube SEO linked posts compete against standard web pages.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with Video SEO and SEM, particularly in real estate, with surprising results.

Optimally, You would want to post a video on the topic of homes and real estate and have Google show it at the top of organic search results like you may see randomly, from time to time at or near the top of a results page. That has not happened for me yet, but what has happened is an organic link to a Youtube video has appeared directly as a result of using the keywords for the title, or its start. The video pushed aside competition that I’ve been working to overcome for weeks.

My keyword was simple, Mirasol homes for sale, and I created a few back-links to the video URL. Now, I’m interested in whether additional back-links push it up any further than its position 8 in the real estate related web search.
